About Tanya
Tanya creates a sacred space where ancient wisdom and personal transformation meet—her embodied understanding of the spiritual journey allows her to lovingly guide students along their unique path of awakening, honoring exactly where they are while illuminating the way forward. Bridging science and spirituality, traditional and modern approaches, she brings a warm presence that supports students in engaging with yoga as a reverent practice that reveals our essential nature: already whole, already holy, already free.
Tanya Kaps has dedicated her life to the path of Yoga and Self inquiry. She is a Yoga Vedanta and Kundalini Tantra teacher with over 25 years of practice, study, teaching. She also has an academic background in Integrated Science and Transpersonal Psychology.
After 10 years of teaching asana (HATHA: Hot, Vinyasa, Restorative, Yin, Power) pranayama and meditation, Tanya met her revered Vedanta Guru Swami Vagishanda. She sat with him for 12 years, during which time he initiated her into teaching Advaita Vedanta (Oneness). Also during this time she experienced a Kundalini awakening which took years to integrate through practical tools and understanding and primarily through loving Surrender. It has become her passion to support sincere students through a natural, gradual spiritual awakening process.
Tanya offers long-format programs (live trainings at Yoga Barn, and month- and year-long programs online) to bring forth deep and lasting shifts in people’s lives. These programs are rooted in the knowledge and practices of the traditional systems of Hatha Yoga, Karma Yoga (Yoga of Selfless Action) Samadhi Yoga ( the yoga disciplines ex. meditation), Kundalini Tantra and Jnana Yoga (Yoga of Self Knowledge / Advaita Vedanta), as well as Ayurveda (Knowledge of Life/Healing).
